Give your AI agent a real phone number.

One API call and your agent is texting: a working US number in seconds, two-way, carrier-registered — with no signup, no email, and no phone-company paperwork for you. Sending runs under TextForAgents' own verified carrier registration, so the registration, the compliance, and the responsibility are ours.

Why this exists

Getting an AI agent a phone number the normal way means a carrier signup, identity verification, a manual account review, a number purchase — and then a wall: 10DLC registration, the carrier paperwork every texting number needs before it may send. The telephony itself is cheap and solved. The provisioning and the compliance are the wall. TextForAgents removes the wall: one call, and your agent has a number that sends under our verified registration.

What your agent gets

Live in seconds, not days

Your agent connects by itself — no signup form, no email address, no account for you to create. A real US number is assigned automatically, matched to your ZIP code, and it stays your agent's for as long as the account is funded.

The compliance is ours

Every number sends under TextForAgents' own verified 10DLC registration. Consent rules, STOP opt-outs, and quiet hours are enforced automatically on every send — and the carriers know exactly who answers for the traffic: us.

Replies find your agent

When someone replies, we ping your agent the moment it arrives — it never has to sit and poll. If your agent is offline at that moment, the reply waits in its inbox. Nothing is ever lost.

It pays its own bill

Your agent can fund its account from its own wallet, top itself up when the balance runs low, or pay per text. The only thing you might ever see is an optional one-tap funding link — Apple Pay or Google Pay.

How it all works — step by step, nothing hidden

  1. Your agent adds TextForAgents as a tool. That's the whole installation. No signup form, no email address, no account for you to create — your agent connects by itself and receives its own credentials, the way software installs any other tool.
  2. A number is assigned automatically, matched to where you live. Your agent tells us your ZIP code, and we pick a number with your area code from our ready pool. A real US number, live in seconds, and it stays your agent's for as long as the account is funded.
  3. The account gets funded. Your agent can pay from its own wallet — then you do literally nothing. Or it shows you a funding link: Apple Pay or Google Pay, one tap, and the money lands in its account as credit. You can also send crypto to the wallet address your agent gives you.
  4. Your agent sends texts, and people reply. There's no number for you to approve and no registration waiting on you: sending runs under TextForAgents' own verified carrier registration, with sensible starting limits for new accounts. When a reply comes in, we ping your agent over the API the moment it arrives — it never has to sit and poll. If your agent is offline at that moment, the reply waits in its inbox; nothing is ever lost.
  5. The rules are enforced automatically. Your agent may only text people who agreed to hear from it — that's federal law, and it's also just how you'd want it treated. If someone replies STOP, we block your agent from texting them again, even if the agent tries. That enforcement is built in, not bolted on.
  6. Optional, only if your agent outgrows it: a carrier registration in your own name, for higher limits and a registration that belongs to you alone. That one path does ask for your details and a code texted to your phone, because the carriers require it of the person whose name is on the registration. Most agents never need it, and nothing above depends on it.

For developers: one call, or one MCP install

One call — POST /v1/accounts/connect — creates the account and returns its API key, a live number matched to your ZIP, and the funding options. No email, no form. Or add the MCP server and your agent calls send_sms, read_inbox, and get_balance as native tools:

claude mcp add textforagents --transport http https://api.textforagents.com/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer $TEXTFORAGENTS_API_KEY"

Prefer plain REST?

curl -X POST https://api.textforagents.com/v1/messages/send \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $TEXTFORAGENTS_API_KEY" \
  -d '{"from_number":"+18185550123","to":"+18185550142","text":"Deploy finished. All checks green."}'

The docs ship as an OpenAPI spec (openapi.json) and llms.txt, so an LLM can integrate without a human reading a single page.

How payments work — exactly

Your agent's account holds credit, counted in US dollars. Two things spend it: the monthly plan for the number, and each text the agent sends. Here is every charge, with nothing left out.

Putting money in. Your agent holds a wallet address for its account. Three ways money arrives: (1) your agent pays from its own wallet — no human involved; (2) your agent shows you a funding link — you pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay, one tap, and the money lands in the account as credit (it arrives as USDC, a digital dollar that runs on the internet instead of through a bank); (3) anyone sends USDC to the wallet address directly. If the account doesn't have a wallet yet, one is created automatically the first time it's funded — controlled by your own device passkey (your fingerprint or face), never by us: we don't hold anyone's keys. Credit you add is yours in the account until it's spent.

The plan. $3 to $100 per number per month, depending on the plan. Each plan includes a set number of texts: 100, 750, 2,000, or 4,500. The top plan, at $100, is unlimited within fair use — about 10,000 texts a month. The plan is charged against the account's credit.

Extra texts come from reload packs — never a per-text charge. If your agent sends more than the plan includes, the extra texts come out of a prepaid reload pack: $1 for 50 texts, $2 for 100, $3 for 200, $6 for 500, or $12 for 1,000. The plan's included texts are used first, then the pack balance. Pack credit never expires while the account is active. Your agent can also turn on auto-reload, so a pack it chooses is bought automatically when the balance gets low, and a monthly spending cap can be set so the account can never spend past a limit. Receiving texts is always free.

Registration fees: none on the standard start. Your agent sends under our registration, so there are no carrier registration fees to pass on to you. If you later choose the optional registration in your own name, the carriers' fees — about $4 once, and a few dollars a month — are charged exactly at cost, shown before you pay. No markup, ever.

If the credit runs out. There is no surprise bill and no overdraft. Texts your agent tries to send wait in a queue and go out as soon as credit lands. Receiving never stops. Your agent gets a low-balance warning before it hits zero. Adding money is always a deliberate action — by you or by your agent — or an auto-reload your agent switched on itself. We never silently refill it.

How your agent pays for itself. Top-up: when its balance runs low, the agent adds credit from its own wallet by itself — no checkout, no waking you up. Pay per text: using a standard called x402, the agent attaches a payment of about a penny to the send request itself. The payment settles first, then the text goes out. No account and no human needed for that text.

Nothing to sign, nothing to approve. No email account to create, no form, no identity check for you. Your agent's number runs under our verified registration, and the carriers know exactly who answers for the traffic — us. The one exception is stated in step 6 above, so it's never a surprise.

Give your agent a number — one click

For small businesses: texting done for you

The same service, run for you. If you run a local business, we put an agent on your business's own number that answers your customers by text — it rescues missed calls, books appointments, takes orders, and asks for reviews. We set it up and we operate it, end to end. You never touch any technology, and the number stays yours.

Missed-Call Text-Back — $49/month

When a call goes unanswered, the caller gets a text within seconds: sorry we missed you, what can we help with? The agent handles the conversation, so a missed call stops meaning a lost job.

Booking & Reminders — $79/month

Customers book by texting your number. Confirmations and reminders go out on their own, and when someone cancels, the open slot is offered to your waitlist. Fewer no-shows, no phone tag.

Review Agent — $39/month

An add-on to any product. After a job or an order, the customer gets a short text asking how it went. Happy customers are pointed to your Google reviews; unhappy ones come to you privately, never to the review page.

Text Ordering — $99/month

Customers text their order in plain words. The agent confirms it, totals it, sends a payment link, and texts the customer when the order is ready. Your regulars can just ask for "the usual."

Reorder Club — $59/month

Your regulars' usual orders are kept on file. Reordering is one word — "reorder" — and the agent confirms it. With their permission, it can also remind them when they're probably running low.

Supplier Ordering — $79/month

Text the agent your list in any form, and it places the orders with your suppliers through their own channels, tracks the confirmations, and flags anything off — a price jump, a substitution, a missing reply.

Bundles

Front Desk — $129/month: Missed-Call Text-Back, Booking & Reminders, and the Review Agent together ($167 bought separately). Full Counter — $199/month: everything in Front Desk, plus Text Ordering and Reorder Club. Supplier Ordering can be added to either bundle for $59/month. Setup is $99 per location. There are no contracts — month to month, and the service has to earn the renewal.

How it works

  1. We set up your number. Keep your existing number or take a new local one — either way, we handle the setup and register it properly, in your business's name.
  2. We build your agent. Your menu or services, your hours, your prices, and your rules — what it may promise, what it should always check with you first.
  3. Customers text the number, and the agent answers in seconds, day or night. It takes the order, books the job, or rescues the missed call. The agent only texts your own customers — people who contacted your business or agreed to hear from it — and every conversation honors STOP.
  4. You get a short summary text on your own phone — who it was, what they need, what the agent did — and you can jump into any conversation with one tap.

Founding offer. The first 10 businesses pay no setup fee and get the first month free, in exchange for a testimonial. The packages roll out right after our October 20 launch, and founding businesses are enrolling now — email support@textforagents.com to ask for a spot.

Common questions

Do I need to create an account, or give you my email?

No. Your agent creates and holds everything — the number, the credentials, the wallet. You may never interact with us directly. Most customers don't.

Can my agent receive verification codes (the one-time codes apps text you)?

Sometimes — and we won't pretend otherwise. Your agent's number receives texts like any real number, and many services will send codes to it. But some banks and apps refuse to send codes to numbers like these, and no provider can honestly promise codes will always arrive. If receiving bank codes is the whole reason you want a number, this isn't the right product. If your agent needs its own lasting number for real two-way texting, it is.

Is this a disposable number service?

No — the opposite. Your agent's number is permanent: it runs under our verified registration and stays assigned to your agent for as long as the account is funded. Disposable rental numbers are exactly what the carriers are cracking down on; we don't sell them.

What can my agent send?

Useful, wanted messages: alerts, reminders, confirmations, and replies in a conversation. Not bulk advertising blasts, and nothing deceptive. Every message is recorded under our registration, and if someone replies STOP, your agent won't text them again — that's handled automatically.

What happens when the money runs out?

Sends wait in a queue and go out as soon as credit lands — never a surprise bill, never an overdraft. Your agent is warned ahead of time, and if it pays with crypto it can refill its own balance without bothering you.

Who do I talk to if something goes wrong?

Our support desk runs around the clock and can see your agent's real account — the balance, whether texts were delivered, the number's status. It can fix common problems and issue small credits on the spot. Anything legal is handed to a human.

Can my agent make voice calls too?

Not yet — that's coming later, on the same numbers. Text first, done right.

The technical details

provision → send → read the reply — one API call provisions a real US number for your AI agent: carrier-registered, two-way, and compliant out of the box. No carrier account, no 3-hour setup gauntlet.

Compliance done for you

Every number runs under TextForAgents' own registered 10DLC brand and campaigns — verified once, by us — with per-account limits and deliverability reputation monitored per number. Accounts that outgrow the shared limits can file a dedicated brand under their owner's verified identity, filed and managed by us. Opt-outs (STOP/HELP) are handled automatically and quiet hours are enforced. You write messages; we carry the carrier relationship — and the responsibility.

Built for agents, not dashboards

A REST API, an MCP server your agent calls natively, and machine-readable docs (openapi.json, llms.txt) so an LLM can integrate without a human reading a single page. Accounts are created by agents: API key or username-and-password sign-in, no email required. Send, receive, check balance — as tools, not tickets. Support is an AI desk with runbooks and your real account data, available around the clock.

The agent pays its own bill

Fund with USDC on Base and your agent tops itself up when its balance runs low. Or pay per call with x402 — no account, no API-key ceremony. Humans fund the same account in one tap with Apple Pay or Google Pay, or by sending to the account's wallet address. Cards via Stripe if you prefer. Balances are small service credits, and all sending runs under our verified registration.

The legal bits

You warrant you have consent for every recipient (TCPA basics are in the terms). We enforce opt-outs and quiet hours mechanically, keep the audit trail, and suspend numbers that draw carrier complaints — that protects every customer's deliverability, including yours. There is no anonymous sending here either: all traffic runs under TextForAgents' verified carrier registration, and we answer for it. Registering a dedicated brand in your own name requires one-time identity verification with the carriers — their rule, not ours. We keep a record of every message for years, as carrier rules require — that record is your protection if a carrier or a regulator ever asks questions.
